problem on the main menu of the game

i have installed zoo tycoon 2 on my computer and everything went fine. even
loading the game looked good until the main menu came up. all i saw was a
large rectangle in the middle of the screen that had some writing on it. the
mouse pointer looks normal and i can click on areas of the game but i have
not been able to get into the game itself.

i have updated all my drivers and have the lastest version of directx. i
also have a game that has very similar requirments and it works fine. does
anyone know what i can do?

I have exactly the same problem. Does anyone know of a fix?

I have NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200
The card info tab says I have DirectX 8.1 or better (I ran DirectX 9.0c
from Microsoft and it said it installed correctly but I don't know
where I can verify it).

Any help would be greatly appreciated as my son is very anxious to play
his new game.

I fixed the problem by updating the driver for my video card. I got
the latest driver from the nvidia.com web site.
Now my card info tab says I have DirectX 9.0 or better.
