I'm trying to install Zoo Tycoon 2 onto my computer. I have all the system
requirements. My problem is this; I will put the CD in and the window will
come up asking if I want to Web cennection or Install. I click on Install,
that box disappears and another opens saying Initiallizing. After, literally
about two seconds, the box disappears completely. There is nothing on my
screen. I can hear the disk spinning for another minute or so and than that
stops as well. On the bottom of my screen is the icon like I minimized it
but when I try to maximize it nothing happens. That will stay there until I
right click and close. I'm getting extremely frustrated and would appreciate
any help possible. Thank you.

I tried every single option on the page and none of them work. I know it
isn't the game disk because out of curiousity I borrowed the same game from
the Library and it did the same thing. According to the tests there isn't
anything wrong with the drive either. None of those options work. I'm at a
loss.

Try this Go to Start>Select Run>type msconfig ..... click Startup Tab then
Disable all Programs in that Tab.... You will need to restart after clicking
OK....

You will probably get a dialog on restart asking you something about opening
msconfig....You don't need to open it back up yet....after you restart try
reinstalling Zoo Tycoon then restart after installing the game successfully
then open msconfig backup to enable the startup programs....

Unfortunately that didn't work either. I tried it three different times.
The installation window pops up, I click install, another little window pops
up, it stops and initializing set up engine then just disappears. Again,
just out of curiousity, I borrowed a friends CD and it did the same thing. I
don't understand why I'm having so much trouble with this. It's extremely
frustrating.

Try using a program such as Windows Washer to help clean up any junk files

Hi Jake,
Insert the disk then right click My Computer icon on your desktop
select explore.... Is the disk showing as being in the drive? If yes then
right click on drive icon and select autoplay....If not then remove the disk
and clean the disk then try again....If it still doesn't work make sure the
drive reads other disks to eliminate the possibility of the drive being
bad....If it reads other disks and just not your game disk then you will
need to return to the store for another copy....If the store will not take
returns on open software you can return to MS directly if you live in North
America see info here
